104-Year-Old Seeks 'Assisted Death': 'I Am a Bit Sorry to Say Goodbye'
David Goodall is traveling from his home in Australia to Switzerland. There, the retired scientist will meet with doctors who will help the 104-year-old to end his life. "Once one passes the age of 50 or 60, one should be free to decide for oneself, whether one wants to go on living or not," Goodall says. He plans to take his own life with the help of Swiss doctors. "Assisted voluntary death" is legal in that country, unlike Goodall's native Australia.
